Samreen Shahbaz is a lawyer and researcher specialising in international security and strategic affairs. A Gold Medalist in International Relations from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, and a BA LL.B graduate of Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, she brings a unique blend of legal expertise and strategic insight to the study of global security challenges.
Her research interests encompass international security, strategic stability, missile defence, nuclear deterrence, arms control, emerging defence technologies, international law, and global governance. She has previously worked at the Centre for Aerospace and Security Studies (CASS), Lahore, where she contributed to policy-oriented research and produced a wide range of publications, including research papers, reports, policy analyses, op-eds, and book reviews on defence and security issues, aviation, border management, cyber resilience, and regional strategic dynamics.
Samreen has also completed specialised training with the Stimson Center on Strategic South Asia, deterrence, coercion, and crisis stability. She is a Fellow of the Gaming for Peace Initiative 2.0 at the University of Lahore, Pakistan.
Her work integrates legal analysis with policy research, focusing on contemporary security challenges and the evolving landscape of strategic affairs.
