Ms Kashaf Bucha

Assistant Researcher, London Dialogue
Ms Kashaf Bucha is a development economist and researcher based in London. She holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics (Merit) from the University of Sussex, where her dissertation, awarded Distinction, applied econometric methods to evaluate the causal impact of political representation on health and education outcomes across more than 100 districts of Pakistan. She also holds a BSc in Economics from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, where her thesis, awarded Grade A, combined quantitative spatial analysis with semi-structured interviews with senior policymakers and parliamentarians across all four provinces.
Her research interests sit at the intersection of development economics, political economy, and South Asian regional policy, with a particular focus on inequality, public goods provision, and the determinants of socioeconomic outcomes in marginalised communities. She has worked across academic, policy, and applied research settings, designing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, conducting mixed-methods research, and translating complex quantitative findings into clear, accessible outputs for senior stakeholders. She is proficient in Stata, Excel, ArcGIS, and NVivo.
At London Dialogue, Ms Bucha’s expertise in development economics and the political economy of South Asia strengthens the institute’s research across its South Asia Security and Economics of Defence and Security programmes.
