Dr. Safdar Hussain

Dr Safdar Hussain is a Senior Research Fellow specialising in Politics and International Relations, with a particular focus on China’s foreign policy, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), situated within broader expertise in geo-economics, geopolitics, comparative constitutionalism, federalism, and consociationalism. He holds a PhD from the University of Reading, UK, and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship there, building on nearly two decades of academic and research experience, including as Associate Professor at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan.
His research examines CPEC’s evolving strategic, economic, and security dimensions within the wider BRI framework, alongside China-Pakistan relations, Pakistan’s strategic alliances, and regional security dynamics — published across leading national and international journals. This scholarship is grounded in applied policy analysis, supported by competitive research funding from Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and sustained engagement at national and international conferences on China-South Asia connectivity and security.
