Dr Amir Ullah Khan

Dr Amir Ullah Khan is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Islamic Research Institute, International Islamic University, Islamabad. He holds a doctorate from the School of Politics and International Relations, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, with a specialisation in biological security within the field of strategic and security studies. His doctoral research, conducted in part at the Centre for Muslim States and Societies at the University of Western Australia under the supervision of Professor Samina Yasmeen and Dr David Mickler, examined biosecurity challenges in Pakistan’s conflict-affected regions, representing the first social-science doctorate on biosecurity with reference to the War on Terrorism.
Dr Khan brings twenty years of university teaching and research experience. He has published over 60 works, with 256 Google Scholar citations, and is the author of Good Governance and Local Government in Pakistan: With Special Reference to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He has supervised one doctoral and over forty MPhil candidates to completion.
At London Dialogue, Dr Khan’s expertise in biosecurity, non-traditional security threats, and the intersection of governance and conflict strengthens the institute’s research across its Nuclear Safety and Security, South Asia Security, and Advanced and Emerging Technologies programmes.
